Judith Miller Wants Federal Journalist Shield Law

BRIEBART.com reports in an article that Judith Miller participated in a panel discussion on whether journalists should be legally protected from revealing sources. Miller was jailed for 85 days for not revealing her source in a recent White House CIA leak scandal involving a grand jury investigation.

The Supreme Court has ruled that journalists are not protected from grand jury subpoenas by the First Amendment. If a shield law was established, journalists would not be required to give the names of sources when subpoenaed.

Miller was presented with the Society of Professional Journalists' First Amendment Award.
