NOLA Officers Shot and Killed a Man During Katrina

CLICKONDETROIT.com reports that New Orleans police are investigating the death of a man who was shot by authorities during the Hurricane Katrina commotion. Danny Brumfield was shot by police outside the convention center last month, just before the National Guard arrived to evacuate the building. Police said Brumfield was shot because he jumped onto the hood of a squad car and appeared to be attacking an officer.

But Brumfield's relatives disputed that. They said a commotion broke out at the convention center and Brumfield jumped into the street, probably to signal for help from police. The relatives said an officer hit Brumfield twice with the squad car. They said Brumfield was shot after he pulled out a pair of shears to protect himself and jumped onto the hood.

The relatives also said officers ran over his body when they left.

Reports of violence such as rape, are reported to have been exaggerated by the media during the time that tens of thousands of people lived at the convention center. I don't think that we will ever know the full truth of the things that happened during Katrina.
